Noise Reduction and Editing
A Before-After demonstration of preparing clear, smooth audio consisting of multiple on-the-street interviews with varying amounts of background noise. Tasks include:
- noise reduction
- increasing voice presence
- smooth levels and transitions
In the original recordings, the subjects voices are soft and embedded in background street noise. The task is to increase the presence and intelligibility of the voices while reducing the background noise.
Depending on the particular noise issues in each clip, the best approach for noise reduction and increasing presence is determined. Techniques include applying EQ adjustments, multi-band limiters, noise removal tools.
The final step is adjusting levels to create a consistent flow with careful attention to ensuring smooth transitions between subjects and scenes.
